The Hare’s Chase Barossa Red Blend comprises 70% Shiraz, 16% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 3% Tempranillo, 1% Cabernet Sauvignon. Those four varieties add up to a wonderfully balanced wine, with great structure, beautiful length of flavor and firm tannins, which give an appetizingly dry finish. The fruit flavors are abundant and intense. The use of 85% American (15% new), 15% French oak during fermentation made this vintage solid with ripe flavors. Shiraz is robust from the vintage and the merlot softens the power. Cabernet Franc adds perfume and the fine tannins. The Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon, though small in percentage, contribute to the outer flavor.
