The Loan Raven’s Rose is made from 100% Alicante Bouchet traditionally dry grown in soils ranging from dark clay to sandy loam formed in a gentle slope leading down to the creek. The 13 year-old vines are hand pruned to encourage low yields and allow plenty of air and sunlight through the canopy so the fruit may achieve its optimum ripening potential. This results in beautifully developed bunches consisting of small berries tendered by the season and the natural environment from which they are grown. Free run juice only is used – no pressings. Alicante Bouchet is a heavy cropping variety but good average winter rainfall followed up with good rains late spring and a cooler summer meant these grapes had a wonderful growing and ripening season. The grapes were then hand picked and fermented in stainless tank and bottled nearly immediately after completion of fermentation for maximum freshness.
