The Block 3 Shiraz is produced from our oldest, non-irrigated vines grown on deep sandy soil. The bouquet is big, rich, and spicy with obvious oak characters. The palate is rich, smooth, and spicy with firm but elegant tannins. As is typical with this block of Shiraz, the middle palate is sweet and full of ripe fruit. 2001 was a year of very concentrated fruit, which produced a luscious, velvety wine, balanced by fine American oak tannins. The Block 3 Shiraz is a long-term classic that is unmistakably "McLaren Vale Shiraz". Great drinking now or can be cellared with confidence for 10-15 years.
