Shiraz Reserve
The Noon’s winery is literally built into an old garage. It is like a rare gem where every facet is polished to a fine edge. The winery itself is small, consisting of a tasting room, a kitchen/lab, a barrel-filled aging room and another room that holds the huge blending tanks that were purchased back in the 1950’s by Drew Noon's father. If you stand at the winery door facing outwards, the block of vineyard immediately in front of you would contain just about the oldest vines on the property. The winery is surrounded by these ancient Grenache bushvines that were planted in 1934. If you were to look up the world “gnarly” in the dictionary, a picture of these vines would give you an ideal visual definition. The nearby Shiraz vineyard is about 43 years old now. The grapes that are eventually harvested from this small vineyard are small, intense nuggets of flavorful juice. Drew and Rae use their masterful winemaking talents to turn them into consistently amazing wine.
