Cap de’Estaing Wines is a young operation in a relatively new viticultural area, Kangaroo Island, off the coast near Adelaide. Robin Moody makes 100% Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon from the fruit of vines planted in 1994 in clays over limestone, on the northern coast of the island. Yields average only 2 tons per acre. In 2004, he also made a very limited amount of Cap d’Estaing Admiral’s Reserve Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon, which was aged in new French oak.
