R is not only the name of the winery owned by Dan Philips of The Grateful Palate and winemaker Chris Ringland, but also of its first wines: R (capital letter), a limited production Cabernet Sauvignon, and r Cabernet (lower-case letter), a value wine, both made from Barossa fruit; and r Ose, a rose made from Cabernet grapes from the Adelaide Hills. R also has just released Evil, a Cabernet, and Pure Evil, a lightly oaked Chardonnay made largely with grapes from McLaren Vale and Riverland.
