Battely is a young winery in Beechworth, Victoria, north of Melbourne. Winemaker Russell Bourne favors—and achieves—a Rhone style Shiraz with his Syrah and the 60% Shiraz-40% Durif blend he calls Sojourn. Yields from the relatively young vines are extremely small, 1 to 1.5 tons an acre, and annual production is just 220 to 250 cases.
