Kay Brothers, one of the venerable wineries of McLaren Vale in South Australia, has been in the Kay family for four generations. The treasure of owner and winemaker Colin Kay’s Amery Vineyard is the portion called Block 6, which was planted in Shiraz in 1892; fruit from those vines goes into Block 6 Shiraz. The Grateful Palate also handles Kay Brothers’ Hillside Shiraz, aged in combination of new and old American oak for 28 months, and the Amery Shiraz, aged in oak for 18 months.
