Rob Gibson uses the knowledge he gained in years working for Penfolds to source topflight grapes from vineyards across South Australia for his own label. His Australian Old Vines Collection includes an AOVC Grenache made from fruit from 80-year-old vines in Blewitt Springs in the Barossa Valley, and an AOVC Shiraz made with grapes hand-picked from three small plantings in the Barossa that date back to the 1850s. These are very special, low-production wines. Gibson also blends grapes from the Barossa and McLaren Vale for his Shiraz, and combines Shiraz with Mourvedre and Grenache in Wilfreda Blend.
