Clarendon is owned by one of Australia’s best known growers, David Hickinbotham, who supplies fruit to other highly regarded wineries, including Clarendon Hills. For the Cabernet, Grenache and Shiraz on his label,  he uses grapes from 30- to 50-year-old vines growing in the rich, loamy clay of his parcels in McLaren Vale, just south of Adelaide, in South Australia.
